The Buzzards are a flock of hams who circle around on 6 meters looking for rare (or maybe not so rare) DX. Actually, they are glad to find anything, dead or alive. They are called buzzards because when they find a station calling CQ, the flock descends and picks the station clean. When then they finish, the new station probably never wants to hear from a station in LaGrange, GA, again. The Grid Square EM73 will be forever clawed into their hides

The Buzzards are a flock of hams interested in promoting 6 meter activity. Many of the Buzzards live in LaGrange, GA, and are members of the LaGrange Radio Club. They come to roast every Monday evening at 8:30 PM eastern for their net on a frequency of 50.155 MHz. The net is open to anyone willing to soar with the buzzards because you don't have to live in LaGrange. Just check into the net.

While any one can check into the net, the honor of being truly called a Buzzard is reserved to those bird who have checked into the net six or more times. The honor roll of true Buzzards is listed below.

Once a buzzard has earned a Buzzard Number, additional higher awards can be earned for making progressively higher numbers of check in. The first level is called the 6x6 Certificate for making 36 checkins. After making 100 checkins, a buzzard member will be awarded the Century Certificate. At the 155 checkin level, a buzzard will receive the Frequency Certificate, named for the frequency on which we operate. The next level is called the 6X6X6 Certificate awared for making 216 checkins. At the 250 checkin level, the buzzard is awarded the Soaring Buzzard Certificate. The next level is call the Silver Certificate, achieved after 300 checkins. The next to the highest level is called the Gold Certificate awarded for making 350 checkins. The next highest level called the Platinum Certificate awarded for making 400 checkins. The current highest level is called the Diamond Certificate awardsed for making 450 checkins. All certificates are awrded at no cost to the buzzard award holder.
